Two buses were set on fire in the capital the night before the blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties to prevent the election.

On Saturday (December 2) at around 10:30 pm, blockade supporters set fire to a bus of Asmani Paribahan behind Syedabad Karati Tola School of Jatrabari Police Station.

Eyewitnesses said that some supporters of the blockade came suddenly and set fire to the bus and fled. All the seats inside the bus were burnt in the fire. Fire service personnel brought the fire under control with the help of locals.

Meanwhile, during the night, supporters of the blockade set fire to a bus of Padma Plus Transport parked on the road at the entrance of Gabtali Bus Terminal. Later, the fire service personnel came and brought the fire under control. No casualties were reported in this incident.

Another 48-hour blockade called by BNP to prevent the 12th National Assembly elections is starting from 6 am on Sunday (December 3).

Earlier, the eighth round of 24-hour blockade was called by BNP-Jamaat and like-minded parties from 6 am on Wednesday (November 29) to 6 am on Thursday. Later on Thursday, BNP and like-minded parties observed hartal from 6 am to 6 pm.

It is to be noted that a massive clash took place around the BNP rally on October 28 in Dhaka. A policeman was killed. The next day, on October 29, BNP held a strike. After that, the party called the blockade 8 times in different periods. And the 9th phase of blockade is starting from Sunday.
