What Timur Alam of Trinamool BNP said about the 'viral' video

The General Secretary of Trinamool BNP, known as the 'King's Party', Taimur Alam Khandkar has received the party's nomination from Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj) constituency to contest the 12th National Assembly elections.

Textile and jute minister Golam Dastgir Ghazi is the candidate of Awami League in this seat. According to party sources, Taimur Alam is negotiating with the government to be a candidate for the seat. One side of the government asked Taimur not to be a candidate for this seat.

A video footage of Taimur Alam Khandkar's conversation about which constituency to elect went viral recently. Then something was said to Taimur Alam from the other side of the phone.

In response, Taimur Alam said, 'I will not buy 5A (Narayanganj-5 seats). What I said before the Prime Minister. I will not change the words. They are biased (influenced) by Ghazi (Ghulam Dastgir). Whatever you please us, it will not happen.

The leaders of BNP and Demokratia Manch alleged that they are trying to split the opposition parties by forming parties like Trinamool BNP and Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) under the patronage of the government. Amidst such discussions, the video footage of the conversation about the Trinamool BNP General Secretary's seat created discussion in the political circles.

Taimur Alam Khandkar told reporters on Wednesday about the viral video, "People of Narayanganj want me." They can demand to be elected from Narayanganj-5 seat.'' If the seats were to be shared, I would have asked for a boat.

However, Taimur Alam refused to reveal with whom the conversation took place.

The party's general secretary Taimur Alam Khandkar announced the names of party candidates at the Trinamool BNP central office in Paltan in the capital this afternoon. The party has announced candidates for 230 out of 300 seats.

Trinamool BNP said that the names of the candidates in the remaining constituencies will be announced later. Five former MPs are among the candidates announced by the party.

Trinamool BNP Chairperson Samsher Mobin Chowdhury has received party nomination for Sylhet-6 (Bianibazar-Golapganj) constituency. Awami League's candidate for this seat is former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.

Awami League has given party nominations to two current and former ministers in the seat of the top two leaders of Trinamool BNP. Trinamool BNP executive chairperson Antara Selima Huda has received party nomination from Munshiganj-1 constituency.
