                 BGMEA urges customs clearance of garment sector to be expedited



The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has requested that customs-related processes, especially clearance of import-export products, be expedited to increase the competitiveness of the garment industry.

On Tuesday (December 5), the delegation of BGMEA led by Farooq Hasan made this request during a meeting with Commissioner of Chittagong Customs Mohammad Faizur Rahman.

The meeting discussed ways to address issues of concern to the garment industry, including various issues related to customs. Farooq Hasan emphasized on reducing lead time to maintain competitiveness in the highly competitive global market, especially in the fashion industry.

He said that the Custom House should take immediate measures to ensure smooth and speedy services, especially speeding up the clearance process of import-export goods.

 Customs Commissioner Mohammad Faizur Rahman assured to take necessary measures by the Custom House to solve the problems.

 BGMEA first vice president Syed Nazrul Islam, Vice President (Finance) Khandkar Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, former director Anjan Shekhar Das etc
